LFC's Mission
The Long Format Club (LFC) was formed in the spring of 2009 to gather the grass roots supporters of the classic, or long, format equestrian three-day event into one place where we can combine our voices and dollars into a meaningful contribution to keep long format eventing alive. By pooling our resources and serving as a conduit between supporters and event organizers, the Long Format Club takes donations and distributes them to organizers who run classic three-day events at the Training or Preliminary levels to help defray the costs of hosting these events. We help organizers meet expenses such as footing preparation for steeplechase/roads and tracks phases, additional officials, clinicians, construction of steeplechase fences, and awards. Organizers send us their "wish lists" and the LFC directors award funds as available to best meet the organizers and Club's needs.

What Is The USEA Classic Three-Day Event Series?
Whether you call it a classic, full, or long format event, it is a thrill like no other! The United States is the only country in the world that still offers and sanctions classic format competitions which incorporate roads and tracks, steeplechase, and cross-country into four phases on speed and endurance day.
The classic format Training 3-Day Event (T3DE) Series sponsored by Smartpak and recognized by the United States Eventing Association (USEA) appeals to adult amateurs and young riders who want to experience the unforgettable rush of a full format three-day event at the Training level. These events combine a competition with educational components.
In early 2009, the organizers of the last 5 remaining events anywhere in the world offering a Preliminary level full format three-day event (P3DE) banded together to form a Classic Three-Day Event Series, committing to making a gradual change over to a new National version of the classic three-day event.
In July, 2009 the USEA announced that the 5 Preliminary level events would team up with the 12 Smartpak Training Three-Day Events to form the USEA Classic Three-Day Event Series!
